Scripture: Deut. 6: 10-12 ...And it shall be, when the Lord your God brings you into the land of which He swore to your fathers, to give you large and beautiful cities which you did not build, houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, hewn out wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant - when you have eaten and are full - then beware, lest you forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

Story: I struggle with complacency. Of all the songs found in this songbook, admittedly, this one poses the greatest challenge for me. I've sung it's warning over and over again and still it remains an area of my life where I fall short. Fervently seeking the Lord with my whole heart and soul when I'm in the midst of a crisis and there is no where else to turn comes naturally. What does not come naturally is sustaining that intense level of fellowship, that consuming desire for God, when the crisis has passed and the mundane activities of my life again take center stage. Sadly, it's almost as if I need adversity to keep my priorities straight and my focus solely on Him. Thank God for His grace and for His love and mercy. And thank God that He is faithful even when I'm not.
